Brothers and sisters in Christ a blessed evening,
Santacruzan is held annually in the warm month of May and is considered to be the "Queen of Filipino Festivals. May is also the month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Christ. Filipinos turn each of the 31 days in May into a charming honor to the virginal virtues in Flores de Mayo, the flowers of May fiesta.
And we are honored that the beauty of love is gracing this occasion with us.
It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to introduce to you a role model and a woman of distinction.
It was August 26 when a woman was born at brgy.29, Laoag City by Mrs.Petronila A. Respicio a retired public school teacher and Judge Juan Respicio a retired RTC judge. It was 1971 when she finished her degree on Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines and passed the bar exam given in the same year.
She was blessed with 4 children. Hon. Portia Pamela, Peterjo, Joseph James and John David.
She is indeed a woman of service and leadership for she served as Laoag city councilor from 1980-1986 and eventually elected as Provincial Board Member from 1988-2007 and was awarded as the Most Outstanding Provincial Board Member of Ilocos Norte by the Provincial Board Members Association of the Philippines on Nov. 30, 1990.
Her astonishing beauty and pros in leadership made her an icon of women as she is presently the charter president of Laoag City Samahang Kababaihan sa Barangay, Inc.
She is ever compassionate for she extended her services in different socio-civic and religious organizations and presently the Regional Chairman of Northern Luzon Region, Girl Scout of the Philippines .
She is also an expert in the world of broadcasting as she became a TV host and a regular guest of various radio stations, in fact you can hear her expertise in legal problems at the program Sika Ken Ti Linteg of DZEA-Laoag.
She is currently practicing her profession as a private lawyer in her own law firm The Respicio Law Office.
She has proven her worth locally and internationally due to the various seminars and workshops she attended and her involvement in professional organizations. She has distinguished herself as a leader of our land and a multi-awarded leader of woman in particular.
She has taken her level of excellence and achievements one step further and the most remarkable is the fact that she was able to touch the lives of every Ilocano.
Her name and her accomplishments earned her the success she is having right now.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm sure you will agree with me that Ilocanos has gained a legendary role-model.
Please join me in welcoming Atty. Ameurfina A. Respicio.
